1stDibs Favs: Accessories
the most lust-worthy styling picks from our go-to vintage source
In celebration of our placement on the 1stDibs 50 list of designers (woohoo!), we’re launching a series of our latest crushes from this vintage and antique treasure trove. This month, we’re spotlighting styling accessories to add the perfect finishing touch to your space.
Decorative vessels
Fill with fruit or flowers, or leave them empty, these unique pieces are pretty enough to stand all on their own. Arianna de Luca’s geometric vase is a perfect modern foil to a more traditional space, and produce gets an upgrade perched inside handmade ceramic bowls with Old-World vibes. A circa-1700s red porcelain vessel brings earthy texture to any design.
Wall art and mirrors
Line figure illustrations are some of our most universally beloved additions to a space. Incorporate them seamlessly into a gallery wall, or let a larger piece take a striking center stage. Mirrors provide the perfect opportunity for a sculptural moment without adding too much color or pattern. We’re currently partial to Italian brass wall mirrors for their low profile, and a stone-inlaid frame adds just a hint of interest.
Little guys
A pretty tray or lidded dish can provide more than eye candy. Place them in high-traffic areas for a design-worthy landing spot to house spare change, keys, small office supplies, and jewelry. They also work marvelously on bookshelves—small pieces are a delicate topper to a stack of books. And don’t overlook your bookends! They’re both functional and can be a statement styling moment.
Books, books, books
Probably our favorite pieces to style with? Books. They let visitors get to know more about your interests, can be stacked and moved around easily, and display favorite art and artists without the cost of the real thing. The Museum of Modern Art’s art history primer is perfect for newbies, Luna Luna is a fascinating trip through the world’s first and only art amusement park (returning next year thanks to Drake!), and the striking red Knoll book explores the iconic furniture designer’s best-known pieces. And the splurge-worthy Hockney book? It comes with a limited edition book stand in the artist’s style.
