VIRGINIA FAMILY ESTATE

A newly married couple expecting their first child called on us to give their large suburban house some funk. Located in a country club community, the couple needed to inject their fun, youthful personalities into what could have been a cookie-cutter space. Multiple living areas challenged the team to create usable spaces on each floor to maximize coziness and livability. The clients were drawn to a coastal, California style, so we deconstructed some of the more transitional architectural details (see the fireplaces) to achieve the look. In lieu of bold colors in the main living areas, we developed a textural, layered space with hints of moody tones for contrast.
